Keep on Planting

Hi all,

I have received a suggestion for planting beyond Whittington Hall up towards Hutton Roof.  We have a few bags of bulbs left and wondered if anyone would be free to help on Saturday 16th meet at the church gates 09:30.  After our last performances, I don’t envisage this will take long.

Many thanks for all your help so far.

Whittington in Bloom

Hi all,

The bulbs have arrived all 11,000 of them plus free of charge 500 crocus bulbs, pots and compost for the Village children. 😬😬.  I have given 500 to Jayne at Newton who will get on with planting the verge opposite her house towards Whittington.

I wanted to propose our first planting meeting on Saturday Morning 26th October at 09.30. Whittington Village Hall to allocate the planting areas and projected planting as I am sure we will not get them planted in one day, however if anyone has the urge to plant beforehand then please let me know.  It is imperative that all our volunteers are kept safe.

Could you please spread the word, I will try and get some flyers printed and posted.  Simon will be strimming the sites over the next couple of weekends.  I will be providing refreshments and hope to get some help from the ladies of the WI.

Any help no matter how big or small will be really appreciated.

Please bring spades trowels, high Vis Vests and gloves if you have them.  If anyone has extra please bring them along.

In the famous words of Strictly come dancing……. lets get planting.

Santa’s Trousers

There is normally a children’s Christmas party with a Father Christmas for the Village Children, generally mid-December.  Here is the problem.  The Father Christmas outfit is now outdated and Mr Raistrick actually split the trousers last year.  (I know, difficult to believe!!)

Santa, wheres your troosers

I have taken the liberty of buying a pattern and some new material for a modern up to date outfit, however, I do not sew.  I have approached the sewing club and they aren’t able to assist with the making.

I would like to plea, via the blog, to see if there is anyone in the Parish who would kindly make this up in time for the children’s party.  There is no money to pay for it but I will provide a nice bottle of wine and chocolates.  I have all the materials needed so there will be no expenditure just time.
