Beacon Event

The Beacon will be lit by Lady Kimber at 7pm prompt coinciding with over 2000 others throughout the country commemorating the ending of the Great War 100 years ago

Prior to the lighting hospitality will be on offer at Sellet Hall including a BBQ, traditional potato pie and peas, vegetarian option, real ale, raffle, cake stall, soft drinks etc.

The Beacon on Sellet Bank is adjacent to Sellet Hall

Admission is free although donations are welcome with all proceeds to Help the Heroes

Wellies and torches are recommended and if possible arrival at Sellet Hall on foot would be appreciated as parking is limited although those needing to arrive by car will of course be accommodated

  1. John – could you confirm date – is it 11 November – hospitality from when? what about arranging lifts for a few less mobile people – what about bringing Gordon back for the evening- happy to help run a few people up and down.

  2. I did put an image at the head of this item, Mike, but somehow or another it disappeared – It’s back now, so the time etc, is displayed again.
I will email Colin Hall with your observations.

    Best regards
    John Keegan

  3. I am grateful to Misses R for this splendid photo of Steve Metcalfe pointing out to Colin Hall, that he is planning to put the Beacon in the wrong place.

Misses R did not report on where Steve told Colin to put it!!

  4. Many thanks to Marjorie and Colin for organising and arranging this splendid event and to all those who helped with the organisation and catering.
